You might think the House is unconventional, but wait until you meet the staff. They're quirky, they're loud, they might even look spooky, but they're the best staff any house could ask for!
The house is run by the eyes, mouths and ghosts and though unconventional, they're truly wonderful. And helpful, and fun, and upbeat, and positive. The list goes on.
Chatterboxes, they are, don’t they even look chatty? Get them talking, and they’ll keep going. They’re loads of fun, and they’ll show up when least expected (even more likely than when expected). If you need anything while at the house, they’ll make sure you get it, and if you have any information you need passed around, they’ll have it halfway around the house before it’s even all out of your mouth.
If you need a good night story or a morning story or any other kind of tale, fable, myth, legend, or fiction, they can hook you up. Though if you seek historical information, remember, anything they give you will likely come with a heavy dose of fiction mixed into your facts.
The eyes are everywhere; where you expect them and where you don’t, though don’t worry, they tend to stay out of bathrooms. They hang out in the forest around the house, around the front desk, and loiter in the hallways and hang out by the pool. They’re always observing, but never watching you, never creeping. Though occasionally, you might catch an eye roll or two, but they mean it in fun! And it’s fun to watch. Some of them are sleepy, and you might find them taking a moment’s rest in the library or another quiet area.
A slow blink in your direction is them saying hello. Give a little wave. Just don’t touch them, they don’t like it.
No one knows where the ghosts first came from, like the house, they seem like they were always there, even for all the time it was abandoned. Though they say they are not connected to the house, they just found it and felt it was a good place to hang out.
We do know they often transport between dimensions, and they gather stories from places they visit. They travel in teeny tiny spaceships, the size of your index finger, squeezing themselves down into mini sizes to fit inside their machines. They’ll take off, darting to and fro dimensions on story-collecting missions to bring stories back to the archive.
The ghosts never say boo; they don’t say much at all, unless you strike up a conversation with them first.
You might notice that some of the ghosts have one circle eye and one heart eye, and some have an eye patch. They wear the eye patch while they wait for their heart eye to come in, which happens over the period of time when they transition from story-hunter to story-keeper. Finding their first big story is a rite of passage for the ghosts, and they celebrate when their first story is entered into the archives.
